A pastor who was visiting from Africa said a long prayer over Sarah Palin wherein he prayed for protection from witchcraft. Even more shocking, instead of freaking out, interrupting him and arguing with him about it, she kept her head bowed respectfully and let him finish. What a crazy religious nutcase that Sarah Palin is!

I’ve had fellow evangelicals say prayers for me that mentioned things that made me cringe, and I found even more obsession with driving out demons and speaking in tongues among the Christian culture in Mexico during my missions there, things considered just as crazy to most normal people as talk of malevolent witchcraft. You don’t interrupt the person saying the prayer to argue with them about their religious mindset. It just isn’t nice.

Recall that earlier this year, some conservatives and Clinton supporters got fired up over a photograph of Obama donning African garb while visiting Kenya. Some people saw it as an endorsement of Islam (it wasn’t) and other people just wanted to jeer about how crazy and silly Obama looked. I wasn’t one of them. It’s unfortunate to see that all this time, Obama supporters were eager to have an equally obtuse outburst over a candidate showing respect for a religious cultural custom.

Final thought: remember that video of the environmental hippies screaming to the forest and the sky over the destruction of the planet? Yeah, that’s right lefties. You’ve got your crazy religious types too, and we’re not going to let you forget ‘em.
