Today I took a quiz sponsored by OnTheIssues. It attempts to gauge your positions on important issues and match you with the candidate who best agrees with you—so kind of like a dating quiz only for politics. My results showed that I am a Populist-Leaning Conservativewho should be supporting… Libertarian candidate Bob Barr for President. Yeah, I didn’t see that one coming either.

Here were some of my Presidential candidate results:

68% – Bob Barr (Libertarian)
63% – John McCain (Republican)
20% – Barack Obama (Democrat)
15% – Hillary Clinton (Democrat)
13% – Ralph Nader (Independent)

Here’s how some of the candidates in the Republican Veepstakes ranked with me (note that Sarah Palin isn’t in the quiz database; she was always my choice for VP). They are all Republican unless otherwise noted:

70% – Tom Tancredo
68% – Mitt Romney
65% – Bobby Jindal
65% – Fred Thompson
58% – Sam Brownback
53% – Mike Huckabee
48% – Tim Pawlenty
40% – Joseph Lieberman (Independent)
38% – Condoleeza Rice

My agreement with Mitt Romney on social issues was 94%. He was my pick for President for a long time, but not my pick for VP once McCain was the nominee. A McCain-Romney ticket would have been disastrous.

And how about the Democratic Veepstakes?

30% – Al Gore
30% – Kathleen Sebelius
28% – Evan Bayh
25% – John Edwards
15% – Hillary Clinton
13% – Joe Biden

I knew there was a reason I didn’t care for Joe Biden. I’ll bet Obama is wishing he’d picked Kathleen Sebelius right about now.

Last but not least, how do the lovely harpies who serve as Senators for the great state of Washington rate?
