“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints”

My mother passed away this morning at 2:54 AM, one year and seventeen days after we became aware of her struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was 51 years old and she fought bravely to the end. She was the best mother and nana anyone could ever ask for, and she loved her family so much. I know that my mother was received by the Savior today with great rejoicing.
On Sunday night, she said that God and the angels had tried to take her from her body, but she told God she was not ready to go yet. My aunt asked her what God looked like, and Mom replied, “He’s spirit.” She told family members that day that she was sorry, but she couldn’t stay.
Mom made a video last year after she found out she had pancreatic cancer. It kind of shows off her goofy personality, but it also contains a request she made about her death, which anyone could help us carry out. We expect to hold memorial services next weekend.
Good-bye, Mommy. Remember what I said about inner tube wars.

  1. Hey, Jack, my thoughts go out to you and your family. I’m very sorry for your loss. Your mother sounds like a very special woman and I’m sure you will have lots of fond memories to carry forward with you. Take care.
  2. … It’s very scary to think, but being born April 24th, 1957, my mother is exactly one day younger than your own.
May she rest in peace, and may everyone who knows and loves her remember her with a smile.
  3. Thanks for the kind words guys.
Didn’t we compare notes at some point when we were living together and realize our mothers were almost the exact same age Laura? It sounds familiar. Give your mommy a hug for me, time is precious.
  4. I’m really sorry for your loss, jack. I don’t know just what to say, so instead of going on and on about some dumb shit (kinda like im doing now) i’ll just express my deepest condolences. I’ll be keeping you and yours in my heart.
