I ran across an interesting video on YouTube, a collage of photos of a real-life model posing as Harley Quinn in a gothic-punk take on the character designed to mesh with the Nolan Batman universe and serve as a counterpart to the Heath Ledger Joker. The model’s name isPage Turner and the photographer’s site is TwoWatches.com. You can check out all of the photos there.

I think it’s a very good visual adaptation of the character. The biggest complaints in the comments on YouTube are that she isn’t wearing the actual harlequin suit from the series and comic books (because, you know, that wouldn’t look totally ridiculous in real life or anything) or that she looks too gothic and/or punk. But I think people fail to realize what a delicate balance must be struck when adapting for live-action a concept like a terrorist woman who likes to dress as a clown. There’s only a few ways you can do it and still have people take you seriously. This would be one of them.

I would be totally stoked to see a Harley Quinn adaptation along these lines in the next Batman movie. One can only hope…
