Utah Trip, Day 7 & 9

Day 7 – Thursday
We drove north to Centerville to help with a church plant there called The Bridge Community. Currently the church is just a small group of families meeting in the pastor’s house. We went around door-to-door handing out fliers advertising the services and Bible studies there, so I guess I got a little taste of what Mormon missionaries go through.
Day 8 is going to get its own post.
Day 9 – Saturday
I am sitting in the Salt Lake Airport right now. It’s 2:47 PM and I am waiting for a flight that was supposed to leave at 1:55 PM. First they delayed it to 2:15 PM, then 2:30 PM, then 3:00 PM, and now they’re saying it probably won’t leave until 5:30 PM. Thankfully the Salt Lake Airport has free WiFi.
Feel free to chat with me in G-Mail or Facebook, because I am terribly bored. I will update this post when we board to take off and again when I am safely home.
UPDATE I: Am just now at 5 PM boarding my 1:55 PM flight to Chicago. Update II to come when I am safely home. I love you, Paul & Harley, and I can’t wait to see you tonight!
UPDATE II: Home sweet home.

  1. It happens to the best of us.
On the way from the Salt Lake Airport to my mission in Atlanta, I noticed out itinerary had only 20 minutes to get to a connecting flight in Denver. We wound up in a holding pattern for about 20 minutes before landing, so, we were landing just in time to miss the connecting flight. And, it was just me & a young Sister missionary!
The Assistants to the Mission President at the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport may have though we eloped, or defected, or something, because I was given a bad phone number to contact the Atlanta Mission Office. And, the Morris Air Charter (the MTC’s Travel Agency of the era) was closed, it being Labor day, so calling them to forward a message to Atlanta didn’t help. I then called thge MTC, and told them to contact the Georgia Atlanta Mission & tell them we were still coming, but delayed.
So, we waited 2 hours for the next flight to Atlanta.
