Things keeping me busy

I feel like I’ve been fairly neglectful of this blog (and neglectful of blog comments here) lately. Here’s what’s been keeping me busy though:
  • I’m working on a paper proposal for the 2010 Conference on Faith and History biennial conference. I don’t want to tip my hand on the subject of my proposal, but it will be Mormon-Evangelical themed. I’ll keep you posted on whether it gets accepted.
  • I have less than three weeks to revise the draft of my thesis proposal and re-submit it for a second round of feedback.
  • I participated in an interview for the Mormon Expression Podcast last Sunday. That interview should be posted on Tuesday, February 23rd.
  • I’m preparing to go to Utah with a small group of TEDS students from Friday, March 5, 2010 – Saturday, March 13, 2010. We’ll be mostly in the Happy Valley area with a few trips up to Salt Lake City.
  • I’m traveling to Washington state along with my daughter to visit my father from Thursday, April 1 – Sunday, April 11. I plan to take a drive up to Vancouver for the open house of the Vancouver, British Columbia Temple during this trip. This will be my first ever temple open house (they’ve never been at a convenient location for me) so I’m pretty excited.
  • I’m working on a book review for Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought. It will be a joint-review & analysis of Jesus Girls: True Tales of Growing Up Female & Evangelical by Hannah Faith Notess (ed.) and The New York Regional Mormon Singles Halloween Dance by Elna Baker, which are both unconventional personal narratives from women of those faith traditions.
Sorry that I’ve let the “book notes” fall behind. Hopefully I’ll catch up on them next week.

  1. Wow, you are busy these days, Jack! Best wishes on your thesis and paper proposals, and the book review; and I hope you enjoy the temple open house in April!
Oh, and didn’t there used to be a “most recent comments” function in the top-right corner of your blog? What happened to that?
  2. So, depending on which weekend my hubby comes to visit me in Boise, I may be able to hit SLC to meet you IRL. We can share tips on long pants and sleeveless shirts.
  3. You might take your friends to Welfare Square; that’s a pretty impressive place I understand (I’ve never been there myself).
